How to apply transparent glaze on ceramics?

Hello, I'm new to ceramics and I hope I do not seem not stupid, but here goes. I have a few pieces from cookie and I applied some colored underglaze for them. Should I: 1. Apply varnish clear glaze and fire. or 2. Fire glazed ceramics first and then apply clear glaze and fire again? The instructions on the containers frosting was not clear enough for me. Helpful answers appreciated. Note: I use Duncan Envision clear glaze and underglaze Colorobbia Hobby brand.

I'd fire the glaze first, then clear. If you put them all together at the same time I expect they would perform / react with each other. I hope that the transparent glaze can be fired at a temperature lower than the underglaze ... Intriguing. Can you make a series of tubes? Good luck!
