Do water-color paints work for baked pottery?
I just recently got into making pottery dishes using normal brown clay. I have some things I`m about to bake but I want to add some color to them first. I don`t know which paints I can use though...
I know there are colored glazes that I can buy but for the designs I have in mind, I want to add thin paint strokes.
Right now, I`m thinking to paint using water color paints, let the color sun-dry, then add a layer of clear-coat over the top before baking. Do you think this would work or would the water color paint have adverse affects of the baking process?
Please help, I`m making a custom dish set for my first son (due any time now)!
Thanks!
From what I have seen...water color paints fade or burn away when the clay is fired.
